Natural Beauty and Craft Products Using Leftover Egg Yolks

Use Egg Yolks for this Mask

Now that you’ve made your homemade Egg Beaters, what do you do with all those leftover egg yolks? Homemade facial masks and shampoo is one solution. Another is your own tempera paint (remember that from grade school?)

The mask and shampoo couldn’t be easier. Only fresh egg yolks are required. And we love the way we’re saving money too!

Homemade Egg Beaters for Egg Substitute

Homemade Egg Beaters

Now that the holidays are over, we’re all feeling the effects of going overboard on eating the junk foods of the holidays. I admire anyone that can stay in control over the holidays, but I’m not one of them.

So now it’s time to get back in shape. And I’m beginning by making the small changes in my diet that are simple to do but add up to big health benefits.

Substituting egg whites for whole eggs is one way to save on fat, calories, and cholesterol in your diet.  But Egg Beaters, the most well-known commercial product, are expensive.

Cleaning Christmas Sweaters

Time to Put Them Away

Today I’ve been busy cleaning and packing away my Christmas sweaters to hide under my bed for another year. And yes, I do wear Christmas sweaters, not the tacky kind that would win one of the popular holiday Tacky Sweater contests. But I like them and enjoy wearing them.

Some are decorated with beads, some with ribbons, some with sequins. But how do you clean them without ruining them (or shrinking them to doll size)?

Homemade Refill for Reed Diffusers

Make your Own Diffuser Refill

Christmas is over; the presents unwrapped. The holiday bills will soon begin to show their not-so-friendly faces in our mailboxes. So it’s time once again to get back to basics.

Many of you received a reed diffuser for the holidays. You know the kind I’m talking about, with the little sticks coming out of a jar of perfumed liquid. Bath & Body Works sells various kinds, as well as Kohls and most other department stores. These diffusers are popular because they give off a nice subtle scent without being overpowering.

I had one for about a month before the liquid evaporated. Then what? Most stores want you to buy a refill, or replace yours with a new one, but we’ll show you how to make your own homemade version. It’s so simple and inexpensive.
