Homemade Body Exfoliate – Be Frugal by Making Your Own

Print Friendly
Make Your Own Exfoliate

During the summer months we tend to spend a lot of time outdoors in our shorts and yes, those dreaded bathing suits. But summer is not the only time that your skin needs a good exfoliant. Dry heat at the office or your home furnace can rob the moisture from your skin, causing dead skin cells to build up. Get your skin ready for any time of year by exfoliating your entire body (I exclude my face).

I prefer to exfoliate at night, and by morning your skin will be baby soft and ready for a good self-tanner. I have tried just about everything from inexpensive to expensive self-tanners and my favorite is Dove’s Energy Glow–a lotion with a subtle tanner. My skin is very fair, but it still gives me a nice color without my heels and elbows telling my secret! The price is right, stock up when it is on sale and use a coupon.

The recipe for homemade body exfoliate is simple!

Mix:

  • 1/4 cup coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 cup olive oil, safflower oil or sesame oil
  • a drop or two of your favorite perfume.

I know that you have seen the prices on some of the body exfoliates in the stores, so be frugal–make your own! You can also make your own Sugar Scrubs.  These make lovely gifts.
