Black Friday—The Biggest Shopping Day of the Year

OK, ladies, start your engines. You have a big day ahead of you so you will need to roll out of bed at the crack of dawn if you want to get in line for all those early bird specials and doorbusters. Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) is well known as the biggest shopping day of the year. All the stores offer huge deals and giveaways to get you into their stores. Do your homework–you will need an idea of who you want to buy for and possible gift ideas.

Before getting to bed (early) Thursday night, you will need a strategy. Peruse the myriad of sales papers you will find in the Thursday newspaper or search websites such as www.black-friday.net. Make a list of all the stores you want to hit and what time they open along with the items you want to purchase at each store. Beware, many times the lower the price, (especially higher end items) the fewer they have. So the best deals may need to be your first stop. Take advantage of the early bird specials and doorbusters which are limited time offers. Know what time they start and end for each store. Look for coupons in the newspaper and online and always ask about rebates, which will further reduce your purchase price.

Save, Save, Save!

Come prepared with warm clothes, comfortable shoes, a cup of coffee, a good friend to help pass the time and above all, your patience. Also, come prepared with your ads and coupons. Don’t be surprised if the first person in line has been there all night. I have been guilty of that, but I ended up with what I went for, unlike everyone in line behind me.Black Friday

A little planning ahead and sharing the experience with someone will make the experience more enjoyable. And if you do your homework, you may just be able to finish your Christmas shopping in one exciting day. Then go home, warm up the leftovers and enjoy a good movie. Job well done!
