My youngest son is turning out to be quite the cook. He has such an ability to take something simple or blah and turn it into something delicious using herbs and spices. He has inspired me to learn more about them. Here is a list of herbs common to most kitchens that we can grow in your own backyards or kitchen window sills.

I am not a gardener, but I play one at home! I don’t have a green thumb, but it doesn’t stop me from trying. Several years ago I successfully planted a small Thompson Seed Grape vine. After all these years it has taken over one side of our yard and spills over into our neighbor’s yard. We enjoy its beauty every spring and summer, however, we have never been able to enjoy its bounty of grapes due to our Golden Retriever, Goldi. What she couldn’t reach our family of squirrels quickly polished off.

What can you do with leftover herbs? I love fresh herbs, garden grown and store bought, but I do not like having to waste what isn’t used. I’ve tried just freezing them dry, but that’s not the trick to properly storing them. Here’s how to do it.

It’s summertime, and that means time to dust off the old camper, pack the kids, and take those long drives across the country. The long open roads here in Colorado can be beautiful. But when the winds crank up, driving a camper whipping back and forth can be a nightmare. You don’t want a camper full of car sick kids, now do you? Here’s how to ensure a smooth ride for you and your passengers.

Carol has been bugging me to get rid of my fall/winter wreath that hangs outside my front door. First I get a gentle reminder that it needs to come down and then with her next visit I hear, “it’s still up”? I know, it needs to be replaced with something that reflects Spring.
