Last week I talked about trying to find a “natural” shampoo for my Mother, less the harmful chemicals. I spent a week successfully shampooing my hair with egg. This week I tried mayonnaise. OK, I know, it sounds a little absurd to say the least! But if you think about it, eggs and oil are good for our bodies, why not our hair? Makes sense, right?

Have you ever read the ingredients on the back of your favorite shampoo? Many shampoos boast of “all natural ingredients”, but if you look further you will find that there is probably not much, if anything, “natural” about it. Now that you’ve made your homemade Egg Beaters, what do you do with all those leftover egg yolks? Homemade facial masks and shampoo is one solution. Another is your own tempera paint (remember that from grade school?)
The mask and shampoo couldn’t be easier. Only fresh egg yolks are required. And we love the way we’re saving money too!
