After successfully staging my home, I’m helping my friend stage her house for selling. So far, we have spent very little money by reusing pretty items that she already had or by making decorations with supplies from the local thrift store. You can do this easy project yourself with great finds from the thrift store or around the house.

It is the final touches to any decorating project that I look forward to. For my new office it is about the little touches like picture frames, lamps, baskets, plants and knick knacks, etc. Thrift stores hold many treasures that can serve a purpose for any space in our homes. Keep a mental note, or if you are like me put it on paper, a wish list of sorts. Knowing your measurements and colors will help you make good decisions. Then be patient, it may take a few weeks of looking before you find what you are looking for. Keep your mind open and be creative. Many times some of the best finds are the ones you weren’t looking for.

Geri and I can’t wait until Saturday when we get to shop at our new Colorado IKEA store! We’ve heard so much about how great the store is but never had one close by. We’ve already poured over the catalog, made our list and checked it twice, and plan to leave in plenty of time to get there early.

It feels safe to talk about the positive things going on in your life but what about the dark-side you keep hidden? I’m sharing this part of my life with you not to seem superior or to feel better about myself, but to help you push on through challenges.

How many times have you seen beautiful chair covers, but stopped short at the price? Even just covering my 6 dining room chairs would cost a pretty penny when the covers cost $20-30 a piece. And anyone who has thrown a semi-formal party or planned a wedding knows that chair covers are a huge cost. Here’s a clever way to have those lovely chair covers and save a bundle.
