Fruit Smoothie Packed with Protein

Print Friendly
Fruit Smoothies

This is my favorite smoothie recipe.  I love it because it’s best with frozen fruit since the fruit makes the smoothie cold and thick. Add whey protein powder instead of milk or yogurt to boost the protein content; each 2 T. scoop adds about 20 g. of protein. The whey protein also adds a nice milky consistency.   I add flaxseed for the nutritional value, and sometimes a touch of lemon juice to brighten the taste.

This smoothie recipe is easy to make, packs a lot of protein to last you through the day, and tastes delicious. I count the whole blender-ful as 4 weight watcher points, depending upon the point value of the whey protein.

(This makes enough for 2 smoothies…one for me and one for another lucky person…or you can just drink the whole thing!)

  • 1-cup of water
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh fruit
  • 2 packs of Splenda/Stevia, or sugar to taste
  • 1-2 scoops of Whey Protein powder (I don’t like soy powder but you can substitute if you wish)
  • 1 T. flaxseed oil or ground flaxseeds

Throw all in a blender with about 5-6 ice cubes, puree, and you’ve got a yummy smoothie.
