Labeling on Cleaning Products

Watch Your Labels on Clean Products

Companies are required by law to share any potential risks on their labels such as skin or eye irritants. They must share how to handle and store the product.  However, for cleaning products, not until now were they willing to share their ingredients.

Beginning in January of 2010, the cleaning products industry is voluntarily sharing their ingredients with us.  This information will show up on their labels, on their websites, by telephone request, or by written request.

This has been a long time coming and welcomed by many of us who believe we have the right to know what we are using in our homes and whether it is safe.  Remember, this is voluntary, so no all companies are on board.  But it is a good start!
