Make Your Own Sport Drink for Pennies with this Homemade Recipe

Make Your Own Sport Drink

I live at high altitude where drinking fluids is important any time of year. And I’m terrible at drinking plain water. But if I add some flavoring, I can drink it right down.

We still have some hot weather ahead of us before the cool temperatures of autumn, so make this inexpensive Sport Drink using cheap packets of Kool-Aid or any other 2 qt. mix.

How does this compare to Gatorade? Electrolytes are in the salt. Sugar is just pure refined carbohydrate. Gatorade touts its specific electrolytes as sodium (in the salt), potassium (Sea salt) and chloride (again in the salt).

Homemade Recipe for Sport Drink

1 Kool-Aid packet
1/4 tsp Morton Lite salt
1/4 tsp sea salt
heaping 1/2 cup sugar or use Splenda equivalent
2 quarts water

Mix it all together. Chill it and drink to quench that thirst.
