Like many of you, January for me is all about a new beginning with a clean slate.  Come January, I kick into high gear organizing anything that isn’t nailed down.  Well, maybe a few things that are nailed down! I find that it saves me time, money and really does simplify my life.

Take for example special occasion cards.  Stay organized by keeping a simple log with the names and special dates of those you send cards to during the year.  I keep the list in an expandable file folder with tabs for each month and one for miscellaneous cards such as sympathy.  Place all birthday, holiday, or anniversary cards behind the appropriate month.  Also include a copy of all addresses and a book of stamps.  The beginning of each month I pull the cards, address and add a stamp. No more missed cards to family and friends.

Cards have become so expensive, but you don’t have to spend a lot.  For the last couple of years I have purchased my cards 2 for $1 at our local dollar store, which is great, but this year I found a very nice boxed set of 12 at Walgreen’s Drug Store.   You can choose from birthday, friendship, sympathy or blank–a great bargain at only $3.00 for two boxes (24 cards).

It shouldn’t be about the price of the card, rather the sentiments you express in each card.  You don’t have to be a poet, just let your heart do the talking!  Add a beautiful poem, words of comfort or a simple I Love You!
