Smart and Simple Travel Tips

Here are some of the better travel tips that I’ve run across.
- Before you go camping and plan to build a fire, collect the lint from your dryer in a Ziploc to use as a starter. It almost weightless, ignites right away, and saves you from gathering kindling.
- If you love to journal when you travel, but don’t want to carry a book, buy postcards every day and right notes on the back. When you get home, transfer the notes to your scrapbook.
- Use disposable shower caps from hotels to cover your shoes when you pack your suitcase to keep your clothes from getting dirty.
- If you have leftover foreign coins from your trip, glue small magnets to the back and you have instant refrigerator magnets that will remind you of your trip.
- Carry a small US map with you when you travel overseas so you can easily show people you meet where you live.

- When you pack your skis or snowboard for a trip, wrap clothes around your equipment to protect and to cut down on luggage.
- To find local farmer’s markets when you’re raveling the US, check localharvest.org. This website lists hundreds of markets across the country, including days and times they’re open, and what type of food is sold.
- Use a hair dryer to remove wrinkles from clothes. Hold the nozzle a few inches away and move it back and forth. Wrinkles disappear in seconds.
- Pack a few Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets in a Ziploc bag to wash your clothes on your trip. These sheets clean and softens in one step.
- Bring a quick release suction cup with a hook with you on your cruise. They’re handy when their isn’t enough towel bars or counter space to hang your toiletry bag.
