
Most of us will only write this date on our checks once in a lifetime. (I should go buy something special just to say I did it.) The last time this happened, it was Nov. 11, 1911; the next time will be Nov. 11, 2111. So this is a very special date both historically and mathmatically.


Geri’s birthday was this week. Most of us celebrate with the usual festive party of balloons, cake, gifts, and singing. And we’re no different; we plan on presents, food, and fun (but no singing) for Geri’s celebration.


There’s something about the sight of red roses on Valentine’s Day. Maybe it’s the rich deep blood red. Maybe it’s the scent of the bouquet. Or maybe it’s the subconscious underlying meaning that red roses conjure up. But what is that meaning, and who made these meanings up?
