Being well organized also means being prepared. We all need a first aid kit in our homes and in our cars in case of an emergency. If you enjoy hiking, biking, or camping, keep one with you in your backpack. You can put your kits together using the list below or purchase them through the American Red Cross or most drug stores.
The American Red Cross suggests that you include any personal items such as medications and emergency phone numbers or other items your health-care provider may suggest. When you use anything from one of your kits, don’t forget to replenish it. Also check expiration dates periodically. The Red Cross recommends that all first aid kits for a family of four include the following:

When your home is well organized, there is a place for everything. Convincing everyone in your home to return things to their rightful place is not always easy. Set it up and then give everyone a tour of the house and where everything goes. We don’t want to become nags, so let’s make it as simple as possible for everyone in the family. For some it will work, for others, well good luck!!

Are you using the old shoebox method for storing your medical receipts? Do you have to rummage through a pile of receipts, tally them up and hope you didn’t miss anything at the end of the year to prepare for taxes? It can be tedious and time consuming. If you have a dispute with your insurance company, do you know where to find all your records and proof of payment?
Take a few minutes now to organize your medical receipts and records. It is well worth the investment of time. Be sure to read my blog on Organize Your New Year—Taxes.

Christmas is over and we have ushered in a new year. January is the time to get down to business and get ourselves organized. With very little effort you can have everything running like clockwork. Are you still using the proverbial shoebox to organize your taxes? There is a better way! It is easy to maintain and at the end of the year most of your work is complete. Remember that your accountant charges by the hour, so the more work you do for them, the more money you will save. If you do your own taxes, you will have saved yourself time.

After the Holidays, I always feel the need to declutter and organize. Perhaps it’s the indulgences of the season, from food to parties to shopping. It’s a bit overwhelming, and I don’t know about you, but it helps me to get my “ducks in a row.” It gives you a sense of order, and it will simplify your life.
Of course, the best time to do this is before the holidays. That way you can donate your items to the needy or a charity. You could sell some things on ebay to make some money. But who has time before the holidays arrive? From Halloween on, we are thrust into the spirit of consumerism, whether we like it or not.
