Geri and I love to go Black Friday and After-Christmas shopping to get the best deals on holiday gifts. Sometimes we give them right away, sometimes we stash it away for next year’s giving.  We’ve all done it, buy the perfect gift on sale to give following year, then buy something else during the year, and something else, until we have a collection of these perfect gifts in our basement.  And there they sit.

Replacing your light fixtures with new, modern upgrades is an easy way to add value to your house for little money.  Especially if you hit a “Going Out of Business” sale like Geri and I did recently.  With the whole light fixture store being 90% off their retail price, I bought new sconces and fixtures for many areas of the house for only a fraction of what it normally costs.

A turkey carcass with a little meat left on it makes a tasty broth.

I’ve been doing a lot of remodeling and touch-up painting in my house lately.  As you all know, the key to painting is to prep, prep, prep!  I would recommend buying the smallest tub of compound that you can, since most unused portions sit out in the garage until they’re hard and useless.  That’s money down the drain!
