Baking Soda

Use with water to create a paste that can be used to shine stainless steel and silver.  This paste can also be used to remove tea stains from cups and stains from coffee pots.

Coarse salt

Sprinkle salt, then use a lemon or lime cut in half to scrub copper pans and cookware.

Essential Oils

Use tea tree or lavender oil mixed with water, in a spray bottle, to clean and disinfect your kitchen or bathroom surfaces. Tea tree oil can also be added to vinegar and water to kill mold and mildew in the kitchen and bathroom.  The grapefruit-seed extract can be added to water in a spray bottle to kill mold and mildew.

Lemon Juice

Add 3 Tbsp lemon juice to 15 drops of (real) lemon oil and a few drops of jojoba oil to clean and polish wood furniture.

Olive Oil

Use three parts olive oil to one part vinegar to polish wood furniture.

Potatoes

Cut a potato in half dip it in salt then scrub to remove rust from baking pans.

Toothpaste (plain white)

Can clean silver.

White Vinegar

Mix with water and a little castile soap to clean windows and shower doors.  Can cut grease and remove some stains.  White vinegar has antibacterial properties and can kill mold and mildew.

Hydrogen Peroxide

It is considered to be a quick and effective way of killing bacteria.
