celery_leaves-1-2

With all the holiday cooking, this is a nice little tip that’s both economical and thrifty.

When buying celery, try to get the bunch with the most leaves.  A nice head of leafy greens is the best and ensures that the celery is fresh.

When you get home, cut off the leafy bits, remove the stems, and spread on a cookie sheet. Place the tray in your freezer. When the leaves are frozen, place them in a labeled baggie and keep in your freezer for a quick addition to soups and stews.

This is much cheaper than buying freeze-dried celery flakes.  And no additives or artificial anything!
