If only I’d known how to keep butter or shortening from sticking inside my measuring cup years ago! But with age comes wisdom. (Thank goodness something good comes with age!)  Even today, I’m learning new tricks and want to pass them along so you can pay-it-forward someday.

If your recipe calls for an egg(s), crack the egg into the measuring cup you’re going to use for measuring the butter or shortening. This coats the inside of the cup and keeps the butter from sticking. Then simply pour the egg into your mixing bowl. Now measure out the margarine or shortening using the same measuring cup that the egg was in. You will be surprised at how easily the butter or shortening comes out, leaving behind no blobs of shortening.  Who knew?
