walnuts-2An antioxidant is a chemical compound or substance that inhibits oxidation. Certain vitamins, such as vitamin E, are antioxidants and may protect body cells from damage caused by the oxidative effects of free radicals.  Oxidation occurs when elements or materials are exposed to free radicals in the environment.

A free-radical is an atom or group of atoms that has at least one unpaired electron and is therefore unstable and highly reactive. • Blackberries
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Cranberries
  • Walnuts
  • Artichokes
  • Broccoli
  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Spinach
  • Red grapes
  • Tea

Make sure that you include many of these wonderful foods in your daily diet.
