Just the sound of Mississippi Mud Pie makes my mouth water. This was my grandmother’s recipe that we enjoyed every Christmas. This rich and delicious recipe will quickly become one of your favorites. This is not a low cal dessert, but well worth the splurge once a year!

Mississippi Mud Pie

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter (Grandma’s recipe calls for oleo—remember that?)
  • 1 ½ cups sifted flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup angel flake coconut
  • 1 to 2 cups chopped walnuts

Combine the eggs and soft butter with the sugar; blend remaining ingredients. Bake in a 13” x 9” greased and floured pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes (or until a toothpick comes clean). Remove from the oven and let cool for approximately 30 minutes. Spread the top with an entire jar (large) of marshmello cream. Then top with the following frosting. Adding chopped walnuts to the frosting is optional, but I recommend it!

  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
